Como ya sabes, los adjetivos se utilizan para describir sustantivos/nombres. En una oración, es posible que quieras usar 2 o incluso 3 adjetivos para describir un sustantivo.

¿Pero sabías que hay un orden fijo en el que esos adjetivos deben colocarse? ¡No puedes simplemente unir dos o tres adjetivos en un orden aleatorio! ¡Hay una regla!

En español, no hay un orden real en la forma en que describimos algo. Pero el orden de los adjetivos en inglés es muy importante. Si colocas los adjetivos fuera de su orden establecido, suena extraño para un hablante nativo. Así que como siempre, esto es algo que debes tener en cuenta si quieres que tu inglés suene natural.

Hay un recurso mnemotécnico para ayudarnos a recordar el orden. Y es: "ANOSASCOMP". Si podemos recordar esto, entonces nos ayudará a colocar los adjetivos en el orden correcto.

A: artículo (a, an, the)

N: número (many, few, several, 3)

O: opinión (nice, ugly, beautiful, horrible)

S: size = tamaño (small, tiny, huge, large, big)

A: age = edad (old, ancient, young, new)

S: shape = forma (round, oval, square, flat)

C: color (red, orange, yellow, blue)

O: origin (Spanish, American, Colombian, French)

M: material (plastic, metallic, wooden, cotton)

P: propósito (cooking, gardening, sleeping, reading)

Algunos ejemplos:

There are many old wooden chairs in the garage. (cantidad, edad, material)

I bought a stylish black leather jacket.  (opinión, color, material)

Look at that cute little puppy! (opinion, tamaño)

He bought two fancy old metal lamps.  (número, opinión, edad, material)

They adopted an adorable tiny ginger kitten. (opinión, tamaño, color)

We found an antique round wooden table in the shop. (edad, forma, material)

I can’t find my stylish reading glasses.  Have you seen them? (opinión, propósito)

Do you like my brown leather riding boots?  (color, material, propósito)

Conclusión

Como con todo, necesitas invertir algo de tiempo y energía para recordar esta regla. Internet, como siempre, es un recurso excelente con innumerables sitios donde puedes practicar precisamente esto. Presta atención cuando leas un texto para ver si puedes detectar dos o más adjetivos y luego determinar su orden. Haz un esfuerzo cuando estés hablando para incluir dos o más adjetivos en tus descripciones. Practica con tarjetas de estudio.
